|Fishing Report||I had the pleasure to fish again with Mike Travica. The sea Gods were nice to us, warm and waters were flat as could be. We started over by Anclote Island and caught lots of small trout but kept 2 over 20″, we also caught many keeper size Spanish mackerel. We were catching them on a small white grub on 1/4oz jig head.
Then I took Mike to my Cobia honey hole and we started to chummed up and after 1/2 hr. the bite was on, the first one was only a 3′ black tip , nice fight, then about 20 minutes later the my reel started to scream, so I let Mike take it and it was the big cobia. We had to chase it because Mike could not stop him,It took 90% of the line off his reel, so we chased him about 1/4 of a mile from where we had the strike. We finally landed this brute and it was bigger than Mike’s 40″ ruler. This was Mike’s first cobia ever. At this time we cracked out a few cold beers to celebrate his catch of a life time.
When we got back to the marine, they had a official scale and ruler. It weighed 25 lbs and was 41 1/4″
Thanks you for calling me to go fishing, feel free to call any time.
