|I rented a pontoon boat from Belle Harbor yesterday and went fishing with my wife Sylvia. It was the first time she was out on the Gulf and she was so excited.
We picked up the boat at 8:30 AM at low tide. The sun was out and the Gulf was like a lake with very little wind. As soon as we passed the marker they told us we could go North we started to drift fish.
I read reports and talked with Mike B to get some tips. The report from Mike S came in very handy to use long shanked hooks. We used flylined shrimp with a 20 lb leader. The Spanish Mackerel were nonstop from 9AM until 12:30 PM wnen we took a lunch break because Sylvia’s arms were getting sore. She even got a little hammerhead shark.
The biggest was 27″ that I caught and Sylvia got a couple of twins that were 23″. We took pictures I hope it works.
At 1 PM after lunch the wind picked up the water got choppy and the bite died off. We went back to the dock at 3PM.
It was a great day on the water.
