Fishing this weekend was a lot like last weekend. If you put in a long enough day and try enough spots you can catch a few fish.
Went out about midmorning with Joe H and his two relatives from the NJ and PA and found nothing biting.
Moved around to a few favorite spots and finally picked up a nice sized trout and redfish (both midslot) around lunchtime.
The other guys weren’t having much luck at all. I gave up looking for the redfish and trout around 3 o’clock (beginning of the outgoing tide) and decided to try and find some black drum. Our 3rd spot —about 4 o’clock we hit on some fish. I picked up 3 black drum and the other guys caught 2 drum apiece. The bite lasted about 30 minutes but at least they got some fish to take home for a fish fry. All the fish except the trout were caught on shrimp. The trout took a live greenback. The trout and red were caught in 1-2ft of water off of an oyster bar area and the black drum in 4-6 ft of moving water with a rocky bottom.
