||Mike K, Mike S and Bob S, went out of Anclote Park at 6am, 4/13 to look for some fishing spots for the upcoming red snapper and gag grouper season in June. After picking up 3 pinfish traps full of live bait, we headed west 42 nm to 100 feet of water. When we arrived at the first spot, the depth finder lit up like a christmas
tree and we all started catching red snapper and large gag grouper. The water was flat calm with 5 knot winds most of the day. We moved to a few other close spots but didn’t do as well so we came back to the first spot and stayed for the rest of the day. By the end of the day we had caught more than 2 dozen red snapper, mostly keeper-size and 13 gag grouper. 10 were keepers and all were released We also caught 6 large sea bass, a big mangrove snapper and a keeper red grouper. With sore arms and backs, We headed in at 4:30.
