Rick Uffalussy, Mike Kaplan, and Terry Freeman meet Mike @ 5:30 a.m. at Nick’s park, and away we went due west. Rick brought a bunch of live pin fish so we didn’t have to stop and catch any bait, so our first stop was a wreck 35 miles off shore, Mike caught a nice size shark, Terry had one on, but broke his line and Rick landed a nice 39 1/2″ cobia on a live pin fish on the bottom, from there we went out another 15 miles and Captain Mike put us some some nice size grouper. It didn’t matter what you threw down they were hitting everything. they ranged from 25″ – 29″. Mike caught the biggest grouper AGAIN.
It took us about 1 1/2 hrs to bag our limit and then were were just fishing ( catching) for fun. Rick had 2 big fish on his light rod, one straighten the hook ( 3/0 ) out the the other he couldn’t get off the bottom at all then finally broke off the line.
it was a beautiful day, 88 partly sunny and the sea gods were nice to us on this trip light winds and seas less than 2′. Mike said the water temps were around 87 degrees and we were fishing in waters around 110′.
Terry & I want to thank Mike for a enjoyable trip.
