Your Fishing Report Hooked up with neighbor Kurt, and  we were fishing the flats by 7:30 looking for some surface action, but it was already windy and very  wavy. So we  fish  for 1 hr. using surface lures and not a bite, so then we went out to the NEW marker north of the sand bar ( # 4) and tried there for 1/2 hr. and again nothing. Then we went into sand bay and caught some  real small trout.

The we stopped right in front of the beach in gulf Harbors and Kurt on the first cast hooked up with a nice 28″cobia. and I was catching gags right there also. They were  hitting  new penny shrimp of all things.  I also snagged a 20″ mack on a gold spoon.

thanks Kurt

Your Fishing Report Hooked up with Mike Travica at 7:30  at Anclote and we  got  lots of white bait at the sail boat, then headed  to a spot a charter friend of mine told  me to go. We fished for 45 minutes and didn’t  catch a thing so we went up to Gulf Harbors and did a drift. On the very first cast Mike hooked up on a large fish, and after 25 minutes we landed it. It was a 24 lb cobia. He caught it on  one of Bob L. white grubs.

Soon after that Jean Caught a nice  20 1/2″  Spanish mackerel on her favorite  gold spoon.

I didn’t catch anything to speak of.

Thanks for a fun  day of catching Mike.

Your Fishing Report Chuck Hammeke (friend from Kansas), Dave Gullickson, and I fished the area around Anclote Island and the sandbar and caught a few small trout.  Then out to 10 feet of water and had fun with several Spanish Mac’s and a variety of other fish.  Dave had the largest Spanish at 20 inches.

Your Fishing Report Chuck Hammeke (friend from Kansas), Mike Kaplan and I first went for white bait.  Chuck enjoyed seeing the skill Mike has throwing a cast net.  We got all the white bait we wanted and then headed for the canals.  We caught alot of Mangrove Snappers and kept 15 very nice ones.   Then headed out to 10 feet of water for spanish.  It was a little choppy, but we landed alot of fish going to 22 inches.  It was a fun day and I really was pleased that my boat performed well since it had been out since last November until this week.

Your Fishing Report I wandered out to the end of Hudson Canal. Drifted from there in about 8-10 feet of water at 74 deg.. I was throwing a silver spoon and white grubs on a red jig. Lots of small fish, mostly perch and a couple keeper trout. It got windy and choppy. The drift took me about 5 miles out. The ride back was very rough, but a good day.

Your Fishing Report Enjoying a little alone time on the water today.  A little breezy but not bad.  Had a screamer that came unbuttoned after awhile on Nickel Spook Jr topwater.  Heartbreaker.  Headed out to 6-7 feet near the Anclote Island and the channel marker and caught some mackeral with the silver spoon.  Got some “silver trout” as well as some small Specks.  Biggest Mackerel was a 21 incher.  No redfish and got bit off on the pinfish on the long line behind the boat.  Not bad, not good.  Just another day in paradise.  Boat on the trailer, time for some maintenance.  Guess I will be a “boat ho” and a “kayak bum” for a couple of weeks.

Your Fishing Report Hooked up with Mike T early out of Anclote. We went over for white bait by the sunken sail boat and there were plenty. Then we went inside  Anclote island and  on the first spot we stopped I hooked up with 3 red fish with 10 minutes. After that we didn’t get a bite at all. So we left and went  for cobia. We anchored up in front of the  power plant and  put out a chum bag. No cobia but lots of small sharks and remora’s, Mike did hook up with a nice size jack, which  we’ll be posting the video  in the near future.

the winds were very strong today 15-20 knots  in the afternoon.

Thanks Mike for a day on the water.

Your Fishing Report Trying to take advantage of a break in the wind, I took Mike S and Chuck Hammeke(out of town friend) out for a day of grouper fishing off Hernando. The first spot had lots of amberjack up to 33 inches and we boated 3 on live pinfish. I had a good hit on my flatline, probably a kingfish and it bit the hook off the leader wire. Shortly after this I got another good hit and after a long strong run and untangling the fish from around the engine, we managed to gaff a 50 inch, 35 lb kingfish. It was too big for the fish box so we put it in a forward storage locker after we bent it in half. We then threw a bag of ice on it. We spent the rest of the day moving around catching lots of keeper size red snapper, big grunts and lesser amberjacks. we caught 7 gag grouper to 23 1/2 inches but no keepers. Mike S also caught a 16 inch hogfish. By 3:30 we were 20 miles off Hudson, the wind was blowing 15 plus miles an hour and seas were up to 4 feet. Time to go in. My wife Judy said the reason we couldn’t scare up any grouper was that it was too close to Halloween.

Your Fishing Report We left Sea Pines in Hudson around 8 am and headed out.  It was very windy still early and going a long ways was not in the cards.  Settled in on the grass flats maybe a mile offshore in about 7 feet of water.  I was throwing a Tsunami Silver Spoon that is weighted and oblong shaped (not your average spoon) but cheap at walmart for 3.99  It  comes with swivel so doesn’t cause knots in your braid and you can cast it a mile.  Ripping the spoon I caught a few small trout,  a 18 in mackerel and many blue fish, lizard fish, and sand perch.  Bob caught a 12 in gag on a white grub and many small trout and ladyfish.  The highlight of the day was a 38 inch 30lb cobia that bit my spoon RIGHT at the boat as I was about to lift it out of the water.  Saw the take and saw it was a cobia right away.  He fought hard and it took me at least 20 minutes with a 3000 sized Daiwa BG 2015  and a medium light St Croix Mojo offshore.  Bob netted him and we didn’t have to chase him down.  What a beast.  3rd cobia this year and still not entered into COBIA damn-it!  I am signed up for mackerel finally so at least I can enter that.  Thanks Bob – love your new to you 22 Pathfinder!
