Thanks, Mike|
I know that a lot of us use Gulp baits and I found the interview with the inventor of the soft baits I found out a lot about those soft plastic baits I didn’t know before and thought you might find the article interesting too.

|Bob B, Denis S, Butch K and I fished together during the 5.11.17 FOC fishing tournament. We fished mostly the areas 1 mile north and south of the Anclote river on the east side. We hooked at least 50 fish between the 4 of us, mostly trout. We also caught a gag grouper, black bass, mangrove snappers and catfish. It was a good day and Denis S ended up with a two trout entry. It was a great day weather-wise and an even better day of fishing with friends.|

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Mike Brumley, Robert Grover and myself left Mike’s dock at 8:00 AM.
We started right in the South channel and drifted towards the power plant. We were fishing jigs, gold spoons and nekid ball jigs. We were all catching a few than Robert put on a bobber with a 3′ leader and a 4″gulp. Bang within a few minutes he caught his 2nd place 16″ trout. That gave him a second place in both this years tournaments congrats to Robert!
We drifted all the way down to the flats and Mike took his boat close enough for us to cast for redfish. He did not even have the chance to fish he just gave us a shot at a redfish.
Than Robert saw jumping fish about 1000 yards away and we went to check it out. I saw a small Cobia and than a monster cobia went right under the boat just cruising. I have to say that got my heart beating it was so big. We forgot about trout for about an hour and were cobia fishing it was so much fun.
We got back in tournament mode and started using gulp and the bite picked up considerably especially when the wind set us up on a nice drift in front of the power plant. We got a few 14″ trout but just the one keeper.
Mike got a big Remora the largest fish of the day.
Robert and I want to thank Mike very much for providing us with a great day of fishing and an enjoyable day with friends.

|Mike B and My-self (Rick Uffa) hooked up with Mike Kaplan for a day of off shore fishing.
We left Nick’s park at 5:45 a.m. We already had live pins so we headed straight west. The sea gods were VERY nice to us. Light winds all day, flat all the way out and most of the way back in.
We started in 85′ of water and caught a few red grouper, nothing really big. So mike keep hitting some of his spots and we picked up a few reds at each spot. We all ended up catching our limit and a few we threw back which were legal.
We were all catching nice size grunts, and lane snapper and Both Mikes caught Hugh mangroves snappers over 20″
We saw a barracuda at least 5′ long, we tried to throw a live pin at him, but he wasn’t interested at all. Mike K did catch a nice Bonita about 24″, and it gave Mike a great fight.
See the videos of the Mike in action.
Mike B and my-self want to thank Mike for an other great and successful day on the water.
