Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below I went out on the Gulfstar 12 hour grouper trip with 20 other fisherpersons. The weather was beautiful and calm seas. We fished in 30 to 50 feet of water with pins and cut threadfins. There were 6 keeper gags taken and many shorts. I caught a red grouper and a nice ARS with some big grunts. Good day on the water. Tightlines.

State the length and species in the box below Mike B, Bob S, Rick U and myself, Left from the Hudson Ramp around 7:00 A.M. and headed North in search of Gag grouper. Using live pinfish and threadfin herring we stopped at numerous spots in 50 feet of water. We got lots of bites and numerous bottom snags but fish were sparse. By the end of the day we managed to catch 2 nice gags and 2 large kingfish. The weather was great all day and the ride home was really enjoyable

While in Cancun with my sisters, I treated myself to a charter. It’s very cheap there because you only have to go a few miles offshore.
We started trolling and the first outrigger that went off I jumped in the chair and started reeling. I was surprised that the captain didn’t stop the boat probably because we had many other lines out. The first fish was a wahoo (mine)! There was only 3 on the charter and 2 mates. It was wonderful to have them do all the work and me just do the catching. We ended up catching wahoo, barracuda, bonito and king mackerel. After trolling, we bottom fished and caught snapper and triggerfish.
My sisters ate ceviche, wahoo, triggerfish and snapper a couple times last week! They never had fish that fresh and really enjoyed it!

We headed out of Gulf Harbors at 7:30 am on a low tide for a day of offshore fishing. Bob S, Chet J and myself with Capt. Mike S. We were all ready to find grouper and that we did. We fished with cut bait, pins and sardines and caught a wide variety of fish, Red Snapper, Grouper red and gag, black bass grunts, flounder and shark. None of the grouper were of keeper size and the red snapper were out of season. Bob S caught one large flounder, about 15″ and Chet J hooked into a 6′ shark, lemon shark I think, and got him to boat side. We had several hard hits with cut offs but no idea what did it. It was a beautiful day on the water, seas calm and the temperature ideal. It amounted to a great day of fishing, Thanks Capt Mike.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below We headed out around 7:30 a little after low tide. We headed out about 16 miles north west to St Martins Reef. We checked out the bottom and the marker nearby. Caught a few fish including some mackerel. We tried several other spots on the way back including Anclote marker 2 and 4. We ended up in 7-8 ft of water in front of Anclote Island. We pulled in and it was two casts two fish. We chummed and pretty soon Jim was catching a spanish mackerel on shrimp and a long shank hook about 15 to 30 seconds after it hitting the water. Got a few big strikes and bite offs on live pins. I lost several jigs and lures to bite offs. Such violent strikes it was incredible. The fish weren’t huge but we caught at least 40 mackerel and kept 5 or 6 for the smoker. Our biggest was 20 inches

Good weather today and the Spanish mackeral are still in the area. I fished with shrimp and chum bag and set up between 4 and 5 in front of Gulf Harbors. I caught several sp macks from 22 to 24 inches with some cutoffs. I fished from 0900 to 1300. Great day on the water on a beautiful day. Tightlines.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Mike Kaplan invited my and with his long time friend Joe to go off shore with him on Monday. We already had our pins caught so we  shot directly out to Mike hot spots.

I have to say it was probably  one on the worst  ride out we ever had, they called for 2-3′ waves, but as usually the weather lied. Most of the day we were fishing in 3-4′ waves, not fun to fish in, but Mike put us on some nice fish any way.

The first stop we all dropped on the bottom and I put out a free liner with a large pin fish on it. It wasn’t 3 minutes Mike  had a huge fish on, as he was bring it up my free liner was on too, here we both had  monster kings on, biggest I’ve caught.

We had a few more kings on but they managed to break our lines even  using steel leaders, Mike figures it was line fatigue, so today I’m checking all my lines for  frays on  them.

Beside that we were catching  HUGH A.J.’s, and they were hitting our pins on the bottom and our free liners. Between the 3 of us we must have caught 10 of them.

The grouper bite wasn’t good at all, we  only caught 4 grouper all day, and Mike got the only keeper. ( see pics).

We all caught some nice size grunts , they were hitting the  whole sardines we were using for grouper.

I enclosed a video of Mike bring in a big fish, he thought it was a another big King but it was ??? ( watch video notice how rough the seas were in the video.)

Joe  and I want to thank Mike  for a SAFE and fun day of fishing.

I convinced Mike Spanhel to get up early ?? and fish with me on Sunday.  Didn’t have to twist his arm too hard.  We met at the dock at 7:00, tried to find bait at the stilt houses, then ran to the chickee and loaded up.  We fished s cople miles North of Anclote with a chum bag hanging and soon the mackerel appeared.  Jack even caught lots of them on a fly rod, it was a blast.  We ran in tothe stilt houses and fished for some trout, only catching one keeper (released) and called it a day about 1:30.

Jim , Ken J and myself launched at Anclote park at about 8 am.  Stopped out near Anclote Key and loaded up on pinfish using my new home made rig and Ken’s store bought sabiki pole.  The home made rig worked okay and we had our bait.  Went out to Jim’s secret spot and there were about ten other boats there.  We managed to pull in a few undersized gags and several grunts.  Started back in just before three and was home and taking care of the boat by 4:30.  It was a fun day on the water with good company.

Went out about 9:30 this morning looking for mackerel among the crab pots. Many many mackerel along with many cut offs. Also caught lady fish, one nice trout and several unnamed fish. Was using a long shank hook with live shrimp and a small split weight on the line. They seemed to be attacking the weight as much as the bait. Deleted the weight and cut offs were reduced. Ran out of shrimp and went to Gulp on the long shank hook. Worked great as long as you kept the Gulp at the bottom of the hook. Cut offs were reduced to almost none. Home by 12:30 GREAT DAY!
