Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below I got an early start and picked up my 3 dozen select shrimp and a chum bag as I was looking for sp. mackerel as I heard that they have arrived. Yes they have arrived as I caught a half dozen of these speedsters. Also the trout fishing has picked up with a good bite as I caught several 14 to 17 inch fish on the flats in front of Gulf Harbors and power plant. Hot day but a nice breeze made it very comfortable so I stayed out from 8 AM to 3 PM. Good fishing.

Team Uffa hooked up with Mike Desabrais. We left from his house up in Hudson. The winds were low and out of the east. So we hit a few channel markers up in Hudson with no luck, so we came down to the still house where we caught a few small trout. Then we headed out to marker 2 & then 4. Jean hooked up onto a small cobia, and when she was bring it in there were3 others following it. A few cast later I hooked up to a tiny one about 17″. Jean was 26″. after that we call it a day. Jean & I want to thank Mike for a beautiful day on the water.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Jim T. invited me and Georgia M out for a day on the water. We got on the water  on the beginning of the  high tide, so we went out to a few difference markers out in the gulf. Georgia hooked up  on the first cobia which was only 31″ Then we kept moving from 1 marker to another. I had a big one on was tearing line off the reel and  cut me off as he swam towards the  marker. Then Georgia hooked up onto another one, this one was a keeper.

Jim landed 2 small ones, and Georgia missed another one, it hit here lure right at the boat.

We were using 3/8 oz jig heads with difference color grubs. ( white, orange, white with red tail)

It was a little windy, but Jim’s boat was big enough to enjoy fishing in the 2′ waves.

Georgia and I want to thank Jim for taking both of us out.

This is the first time I fished with Georgia and she can handle herself, so if any body from the club wants to take her out, she would appreciate it very much.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below The Boys Are Back!  Fred M , Denis S and I headed out for a day of inshore fishing marking Denis’s return to Florida.  The seas were calm and the you could ask for better weather and temperatures to fish in.  We started in 12′ of water of the end of Anclote Key and landed over 25 silver and spotted trout and Mackerel ranging from 10″ to 17″. We also caught quite a few really large ladyfish and some small black bass.  Having caught a lot of fish in less than an hour we moved over to the sandbar and once again found small trout but no keepers so we moved on to a spot on the flats in front of the powerplant.  Once again we caught trout but no monsters.  It was around 1pm when we headed in having had a great day of fishing with old friends.

Mike K invited My-self ( rick), Mike B. and Jim T for a day of early morning fishing, we left  5:30y out of Nicks park and  we  picked up our pin fish traps we set the day before and had plenty of them, So we head west 40+ miles, The sea gods to nice to us  out and back.

It was  probably the worst day of fishing we every had with Mike. We hit 6-7 spots and the fish were there, but no cooperating, by 2:00 p.m. we were disgusted, hot and ready to call it a day, but Mike  wanted to try one more spot, so he drove around for 20 minutes and finally saw some fish on the screen.

So we  anchored  up, thinking the same, no fish, but as soon as Mike B dropped his line, he got a nice ARS,  (see video), and Mike  and Jim were bring in  some keeper red grouper , nothing to brad about but keepers. Long story short, we filled the fish box in 1 1/2 of  nice mangrove snappers, 16-22″, sea bass  up to 16″ and  a pile of  nice size lane snappers, We could have stayed and caught more, but  out of no where the sharks came in,  so we decided to call it a day.

We all want to thank Mike for  not giving up and making our day a success.

We got back to the dock at 7ish, It was the longest trip we every had.

Mike Brumley & my-self ( rick Uffa) got invited out with Mike for a off shore trip. As usual early departure at Nick’s park.

The sea gods were extra special to us on the way out, flat as a pancake all the way out, but she show her furry on the way home. Mike said was suppose to be only 10 KNOTS with a east wind, WRONG is was more like 15-20  and to boot it was a north wind. It was the roughest ride we ever had coming in. Almost 3 hrs to go 45 miles.

The fish bite was good, we got 5 keeper red grouper with Mike B getting the biggest one. The smallest one was 24″.  We could have limited out on ARS if they were still open and they were all nice ones too. We were catching them on  live pins and  frozen sardines.

I video taped the catch of the day. But I had the  camera set a little too high, so it’s not that great of a video.

Dave invited Butch K, Robert G, and myself for an offshore trip. We left the dock at 7am to a perfectly calm sea. The Sunrise was beautiful. First stop was 38 feet of water. Caught Grunts. Moved out to 75 feet where we marked plenty of fish on the bottom. One Lane Snapper and more Grunts. Tried a couple more spots. Not one grouper was ever caught. It was a beautiful day for a boat ride with great Fish-On club members. We were back at dockside by 2PM. Thank you Dave for inviting us to “fish”.

GULFSTAR trip and it was a beautiful boat ride on calm seas 3 hours offshore . We fished for grouper and key west grunts using live pinfish, squid and cut threadfin. Many short gags were caught and released and many key west grunts came home. It was a great trip and I am already signed up for October trips when the gags will be ready to eat. Tight lines.

Fred M, Butch K and I headed out from Tarpon Springs on the Anclote for a day of inshore fishing at around 8:30am. The water was like glass most of the day but later in the afternoon the wind came up and there was quite a bit of chop.

We fished the spoiler island at the end of Anclote channel but there was so much bait in the water we did not get much of a bite so we moved up in the north south channel to an area half way between the Anclote Key and Gulf Harbors. There was a weed line so we fished it and ended up with a couple good size keeper mackerel and a trout or two. We moved up the sandbar and picked up some trout, mangrove snapper and ladyfish. Fred picked off a really big needle fish that was around 18″ long. We moved often and fished in 5 to 12 feet of water. The water was murky but we ended up having a really decent day of fishing with a lot of variety. It was good have my fishing friends back after the long summer.
