Your Fishing Report Hello Members,

I was out of town for the Fishing Tournament in January therefore I did not sign up for it. I currently do not have a boat.

Now the tournament is February 24th. I called a few members and most boats are keeping the same fisherman. If a spot is open in a boat would you please give me a call. My phone number is 310-503-7984.

Frank Bellizio suggested that I do what he did. He put several members together and they rented a pontoon boat.

If there are other members like myself that have been unable to gain access to the tournament please call me and I will coordinate the boat rental for us to share. Call at 310-503-7984.

Your Fishing Report Drove to key West on Thursday and left the dock at5:00 PM.  Greg drove the boat 7 hours West of the tortugas.  Started fishing at midnight.  Shortly thereafter I put a 10# mutton snapper on the deck out of140′ of water.  Fished the rest of the night up till 10:00 am. Most others were fishing for yellow tails which ruled the fishbox. Sat and then went down for a nap.  Back on deck at noon and fished thru sunset.  By that time we had moved to 240′ leaving the yellow tails behind. When I returned on deck at 10:00, Ewing had increased to 20-30 and even in a 100′ boat conditions were unfishable.  Returned to the dock at 7:00 Sunday am, 7 hours early, with 4 muttons and 2 yellowtail and a $150. Credit for my next trip.  Can’t control the weather and the front came thru a lot sooner than expected.

Your Fishing Report The FOC tournament was called off and my boat full of members were called terminating the tournament.  Denis and Butch were going to going out to fish in the river if it proved to be too windy so I joined them. We headed out thinking the day would be spent clinging to the mangroves.  We fished most the morning in the bayou areas of the Anclote and Denis hooked up with a monster trout that got off as he lifted it into the boat.  About noon the winds had dropped so we headed out to the flats in front of the electric plant.  Butch landed a nice 16 inch trout.  Later I landed an Amoura and a under size trout.  At round 2pm we crossed the channel and did a drift down toward Howard Park.  Denis tied into a great 23 inch trout and boated him.  We didn’t catch a lot of fish but we did catch some fair size ones.  It was a great day on the water with friends.
If this report includes a tournament entry please state the species and lenth of the fish caught in this box. Denis S  23″ Trout   Fish of the month.

  • Mike and I went out of Nick’s parks at 6:00 a.m. and it was crystal clear this time.

We caught a few pins at the end of the channel, then headed West 45 miles.

The first 2 spots didn’t produce anything, then Mike found a hot spot on his screen. We picked up  3 quick legal grouper, then the sharks arrived, we caught or had on at least 15 sharks, they were a pain in the ass today. We lost lots of  hooks and  weights.

We ended up with 3 keeper grouper, 2 beautiful mangrove snapper over 19″, 1/2 dozen of nice size lanes, a few grunts., and 1/2 dozen of lesser amberjacks.  We only caught 2 red snapper this time, which was good.

The sea Gods were nice to us again today, a little rough going out but by noon, it calm down pretty good and totally flat on the way home.

Thanks for a great day of catching again  Mike.

    Rick Uffa.

  • Mike K want to enter a 22 1/4″ red grouper for fish of the month

Your Fishing Report Mike B and I decided to catch some mid day fishing. We left at around 10:30am from Belle Harbour Marina in Tarpon Springs and for the first 3 hours couldn’t get a bite. We tried on the flats in front of the power plant, out in deeper water and in front of the sand bar. We had no live or cut bait so we threw soft plastic, spoons, jigs and even gulp with no results. Finally we went out to Marker 4, with no result from jigging and casting we started trolling with silver near the crab traps. We finally caught a few keeper mackerel. We then headed over to the area in front of the Anclote park pier and did catch a couple small trout. This was one of the toughest, slowest days of fishing I have experienced in the last couple years. On the way back to port in Tarpon Springs we stopped at a favorite spot and caught a few ladyfish. Mike B landed a really good size one. A slow but good day of fishing, the water was smooth, maybe too smooth and the company was good.

Your Fishing Report I set out of Hudson around noon with Rick U. We fished several locations between Hudson and the Cotee River using artificial bait and lures in about 8-10 feet of 54 degree water. We caught about 10 Spanish Mackerel and a Trout. The most interesting part of the trip was sighting a Cobia resting on the bottom as we drifted in 8 feet of water. He wasn’t interested in our bait, but it was pretty cool to see. I got to try out my lucky “Fish-On” shirt too!
If this report includes a tournament entry please state the species and lenth of the fish caught in this box. Mackerel-various length
Trout-14 inches

The list that was emailed showing people with boats, and needing a captain to fish with had one error.  One of our new members Peter Steeneck is still looking to fish with a captain but the phone number on the sheet to contact him is in error.  The number is 727-432-0988.  For all members who are still looking for a captains and anglers  to fish with don’t hesitate to call those on the list still showing room on their boat or needing a boat ride, this is the reason we have posted the notice.

Your Fishing Report Fishing with club member Barry inn Brasher Park area.  Had to wait until about 9:15 to have enough water to go out.  Not much of a bit until the water came up.  About 11:00 the black drum found us. We caught 13 keepers up to 23″ along with keeper sheepshead.  We also caught at least a dozen short redfish and some mangrove snapper in the next hour and a half.  Moved off the black drum spot to look for bigger redfish but no luck with that.  Really good day until the cloud cover moved in about 1
