We decide to do some sight fishing for cobia around gulf harbors.  We saw a total of 8 cobia 1  real big over 40″ for sure over a 3′ sting ray.  Jean keep seeing them and throwing her live pin at them and after 4 or 5 of them turning up their noses at  her pin , one finally hit  the pin fish. ( see action video)

Next trip out George will be at the bow to get one for him.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Bob B, Denis S, Butch K and I fished together during the 5.11.17  FOC fishing tournament.  We fished mostly the areas 1 mile north and south of the Anclote river on the east side.  We hooked at least 50 fish between the 4 of us, mostly trout.  We also caught a gag grouper, black bass, mangrove snappers and catfish.  It was a good day and Denis S ended up with a two trout entry.  It was a great day weather-wise and an even better day of fishing with friends.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Mike Brumley, Robert Grover and myself left Mike’s dock at 8:00 AM.

We started right in the South channel and drifted towards the power plant. We were fishing jigs, gold spoons and nekid ball jigs. We were all catching a few than Robert put on a bobber with a 3′ leader and a 4″gulp. Bang within a few minutes he caught his 2nd place 16″ trout. That gave him a second place in both this years tournaments congrats to Robert!

We drifted all the way down to the flats and Mike took his boat close enough for us to cast for redfish. He did not even have the chance to fish he just gave us a shot at a redfish.

Than Robert saw jumping fish about 1000 yards away and we went to check it out. I saw a small Cobia and than a monster cobia went right under the boat just cruising. I have to say that got my heart beating it was so big. We forgot about trout for about an hour and were cobia fishing it was so much fun.

We got back in tournament mode and started using gulp and the bite picked up considerably especially when the wind set us up on a nice drift in front of the power plant. We got a few 14″ trout but just the one keeper.

Mike got a big Remora the largest fish of the day.

Robert and I want to thank Mike very much for providing us with a great day of fishing and an enjoyable day with friends.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Mike B and My-self  (Rick Uffa) hooked up with Mike Kaplan for a day of off shore fishing.

We left Nick’s park at 5:45 a.m. We already had live pins  so we headed straight west.  The sea gods were VERY nice to us. Light  winds all day, flat all the way out and most of the way back in.

We started in 85′ of water and caught a few red grouper, nothing  really big. So mike keep hitting some of his spots and we picked up a few reds at each spot. We all ended up catching our limit and a few  we threw back which were legal.

We were all catching nice size grunts, and lane snapper and Both Mikes caught Hugh mangroves snappers over 20″

We saw  a barracuda at least 5′ long,  we tried to throw a live pin at  him, but he wasn’t interested at all. Mike K did catch a nice Bonita about 24″, and it gave Mike a great fight.

See the videos of  the Mike in action.

Mike B and my-self want to thank Mike for an other great and successful day on the water.

State the length and species in the box below Kayak fishing out of south side of Green Key over to north channel of Gulf Harbors. Had live and frozen shrimp along with nice hook sized pinfish. Fishing was kind of slow but caught a few —26″ redfish, 19 and 22″ trout on live pinfish around oyster bars and 4 mangrove snapper to 13″ on live shrimp in rocky areas. Saw 4 bunches of sheepshead hanging out on some oyster bars but couldn’t get them to eat the shrimp. Definitely warmest fishing day on the water in a while.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below The morning came with little wind and smooth seas as Mike S, Butch K and I left with Capt Dave Taylor on Seas The Moment for a day of offshore fishing. As the sun rose in the east the wind came up and we had some real chop to contend with but we made it to our first honey hole with no incidents.  Using cut bait, live pins and Butch a naked ball tipped with cut bait we assaulted the fish below.  We caught a great variety of fish, gags, red grouper, red snapper and grunts for about 2 hours and then it slowed up so we moved to a new area.  Fishing was slow here we a few fish landed.  We moved back to our original spot but found only light action so we called it a day and headed in.  It was fantastic catching while the bite was on and then turned in to just good fishing.  A great day by any standard,  Thanks Capt Dave to a great trip.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Mike S was kind enough to invite Pete S, my nephew Joe, and myself on an offshore trip. We headed out to about 50 feet of water. Mike did a terrific job anchoring where we tossed the marker bouy. Armed wit Pins and Sardines, we immediately started catching, Gags (largest 26.75), Reds groupers (none large enough to keep), Grunts, & Sea Bass. We spotted a King way behind the boat. We threw out a top line with a Pin & float. That got a hit but got cut off. We also saw several Amber Jacks but was never able to get one into the boat. I had a screamer which came close to spooling my line off my reel. I had to make a quick decision to break the fish off in order to save 200 yards of line. (Broke my heart). The sea were good staying less than 3 feet. We all had a great time with a lot of action. Thank you Mike for a enjoyable day with friends!
