Your Fishing Report Hooked up with Mike Travica and we went out of Anclote river. We caught the last 1hr of low tide and we were fishing out by the Anclote island in about 2′ of water. We were catching nice macks and  nice size trout. The bite was great till the tide stopped.

Then we went for cobia and not a  bite at all, so then  we hit my red fish hole and on the first cast  I caught a 17 1/2″ red fish on a live shrimp, and  we never had another bite for 2 hrs, so we left and went back to where we caught  the fish  early in the morning, We caught another 10 small trout and then we called it a day.

Thanks for a good day on he water Mike T

Your Fishing Report My son’s girlfriend is having a baby, so there was a baby shower for her on Saturday. Not wanting to interfere with the lady’s fun day, my son asked his boss if I could tag along for the fishing trip on Saturday. Of course his boss said yes and I showed up at the boat at 7:15. The rest of the crew, minus the boss (he was smart to cancel and stay home) showed up about a half hour later, with LARGE platters of sandwiches, fruit and antipasto, plus a couple 12 packs of beer. It was blowing East at 15-20 all day and with an outgoing tide, Jupiter Inlet, which is not nice during the best of conditions was breaking with 10′ seas. Clearing the inlet in the 1969 55′ Rybovich (that last winter had a $450,000 referb done) was not exactly a piece of cake, but the boat handled well and seas went from 10′ to a 6′ washing machine. In short order, 3 of the other four passengers were calling to the sea god “Ralph” leaving me and one other guy who was not too coordinated in the sloppy conditions to fish. We actually started fishing about 8:45 and in the 3 hours we fished before the crew called uncle, I landed 5 of the 6 dolphin, average 10-12 pounds, making for a nice fish fry; the other un-sick man caught a large bonito and a dolphin. I missed and went 0 for 2 on sailfish bites. (I need a lot more practice on sails with dead bait and circle hooks)
I think of all the food brought on board, there was 2, maybe 3 sandwiches eaten, a couple of grapes and pieces of watermelon, and maybe 2 beers were cracked before we hit the inlet. My son Corey took the rest home and we had a great dinner that evening.

This is my son rigging in the cockpit with his mate climbing the ladder to the flybridge

Your Fishing Report Dave T, Fred M, Denis S and I fished the FOC Fall tournament from a rental tritoon boat from Belle Harbour Marina located on the Anclote River.  We fished primarily in front of the power plant on the flats and in deeper water in the N/S channel at the north end of the sandbar.  We caught a variety of fish. Lots of small trout but Denis did get a 18″ to enter and finish 3rd with.  Fred caught a nice 23″ Spanish Mackerel that got him a 1st.  Dave T landed a 301/2″ Cobia that was short but will be entered for the year long tournament . We also caught sharks and blow fish. It was a great day with lots of fish being caught.  Thanks to my fellow shipmates for making it a fun and rewarding tournament for our boat.
If this report includes a tournament entry please state the species and lenth of the fish caught in this box. Dave T.  30-1/2″ Cobia

Your Fishing Report Hooked up with Captain Sean from gulf harbors on Monday.

We went for white bait at the sunken sail boat, 2 cast and had a bait well full, only thing there were 2-3′ white caps in the bay so we didn’t hit any of Sean’s hot spot, we ended up inside of gulf harbors in the north channel.

We had a blast catching nice snappers and Hugh black drum. We got the snapper on white bait free lining and the drum on live HUGH shrimp on the bottom. The snapper ranged from 12-14″ and the drum were from 16-21″.

Thanks for a good day of catching Sean

Your Fishing Report Mike Spanhel and I left Miller Bayou at 8:00 with an almost dead low tide. Planned to fish Westport, but water was too shallow to get in. We did see some tailing redfish along the channel while using the trolling motor and push pole to fish the edge of the channel.

Moved out to 5′ of water and caught a dozen fair sized trout and the inevitable catfish while waiting out the tide. After a n hour or so we again entered Westport area but neither saw nor felt any hits in an hour so we came home

Your Fishing Report Mike B & I went out early and fished the flats out side of gulf harbors, It was flat so we used surface lures and we picked up at least 20 trout of which 5 or 6 were keeper size but we released all of them. we also caught 3 40+” black tips sharks free lining live pin fish behind the boat,

So we left and I took Mike to my secret honey holes for red fish. We got there and there was a boat already there and they were bring them in one after another, we were about 200 yards away and not a bite, so the guy in the boat said come on over by us, so we did and we had a great time CATCHING nice reds. We got about 15 of them, most in the slot. Mike ended up keeping a 22″ and mine was 24″ red. After about 2 hrs we ran out of bait. They were hitting small live pins and live shrimp.

Thanks for taking me out again mike

Fishing Report Had the pleasure to go off shore again with Mike Kaplan and Bob Sherley. We departed EARLY from Nick’s park at 5:15 a.m. and headed due west for 50+ miles. There was 1 storm on Mike’s radar and wouldn’t you know we had to drive right threw it. after that it was a beautiful flat day out there, the sun came out and we started to fish.
The first stop was hot, but not for red grouper, Mike landed 3 nice AJ’S and I caught some nice lane snappers.
So we moved to one spot to another, total of 8 different spots and we only caught 2 keeper groupers. The groupers just weren’t hungry. We were using a variety of baits and they didn’t want anything.
thanks for the invite, Mike

Fishing Report Mike and I headed out for a morning of fishing from his place on the Gulf. We fished the area in the flats north of Gulf Harbors with a couple of strikes but not real action. We moved on to deeper water in the north/south channel and picked up some small trout and other non game fish. It was a great morning of fishing, thanks Mike.
