Your Fishing Report Jack & I headed straight to Marker 4 to target Spanish Macks. My Mirodine knocked the heck out of the Macks. Caught plenty but only only kept 6 to smoke. I caught the biggest one at 24 inches. Measuring fish is a big pain in the neck. A few did not survive the ordeal.
If this report includes a tournament entry please state the species and lenth of the fish caught in this box. Chet – Spanish Mack. 24 inches

Your Fishing Report This trip had a duel purpose, catch some mackerel and check the engine on the flats boat that Chet & I share.  We have been having intermittent overheat problems which cools down very quickly when the engine is put in idle.  We have changed the water pump, thermostat and poppet valve and it was still happening, so we pulled the thermostat out and planned a trip to Marker 4 for some mackerel.  We got a late start (11:45) as the tide prevented us from getting th boat off the davits.  We ran to Marker 4 and hung a chum bag.  Once the chum started to work we were catching mackerel on every other cast; well, Chet was, I was using the fly rod and missing a lot of hits as well as getting my fly bit off.  Anyway, I managed to get a 22″ fish to the boat.  Chet actually caught a 24″ fish, but by the time he caught this fish, he was tired of taking pictures and we were killing too many fish, keeping them out of the water too long to get a picture on a ruler.
If this report includes a tournament entry please state the species and lenth of the fish caught in this box. 22″ Mack

Your Fishing Report Bob and I fished offshore about 12 miles west of Port Richey on Sat in 25′ to 30′ of water. We left around 8:30am and arrived at our first location. We moved several times and caught mostly grunt. Bob caught one under size Red Grouper. Around 2pm we headed in and fished Marker 4 and then an area between Marker 4 and the power plant. We caught several specs and a few silver trout. A great day of fishing but no record fish. Several times we stopped and caught 6 fish within 10 minutes, grunts. Thanks Bob for a great day on the water.

Your Fishing Report Celebrated Veteran’s Day weekend Saturday and took Ernie P, his visiting son Rick and friend Craig, offshore for a day of fishing. We left from Hudson boat ramp and fished the day in 50 feet of water with dead sardines. We caught more than 3 dozen big red snapper and lots of grunts. Chris caught a big lane snapper and all caught small red and gag grouper.
Every spot we stopped at was loaded with red snapper. Hope they are still here for snapper season. Everyone had a great time and the weather and water was really nice. Good luck Ernie cleaning all those grunts.IMG_1547.JPG

Your Fishing Report Left from Hudson Boat Ramp at 7am with Chet J,
Mike S and Jim M. After catching some live bait on the grass beds, we headed west about 20 miles  and anchored over some rocky areas in 50 feet of water. We spent the entire day in this area
catching numerous keeper sized red snapper, lesser amberjack, large grunts, a nice sized mango and  2 keeper gag grouper. the largest grouper was 27 1/2 inches. Jim M caught 2 big nurse sharks, the biggest was 10 feet long. the weather was great and the water by mid afternoon was flat. Another great day fishing

Your Fishing Report Mike Spanhel, Carl Magavero and Paul Pomietlasz joined Dave Taylor aboard Seas The Moment for
an off shore trip today. A cold front had passed through the night before so we knew fishing would be tough. soon after leaving we were in 3-4’s with
a stiff breeze blowing. We anchored up about 13
miles outside of Hudson and started fishing in an area which has produced kings and grouper in the past. We caught a ton of grunts but Carl was the only one who could seem to catch any(undersize)
grouper. We moved around in the general area without much success and then decided to drift
where Dave picked up a very nice gag.
The crew really enjoyed a much smoother ride back to port. Although not heavy on big fish, the
trip provided “constant catching” and a good time was had by all.

Your Fishing Report Stayed up way too late Tuesday watching the election results. Woke up way too early Wednesday, probably worrying about the state of the nation. Anyway decided to get shrimp and go fishing. Left the house about 7:30 AM, went along Gulf Harbors North channel, nothing. Decided to try area that Mike Kaplan spoke about during the meeting (about 2-1/2 miles west of my house).

Caught 4 s. mackerel (20 to 23″), several small macks, numerous grande ladyfish, 2 trout (one 16″ and the other small), one small gag grouper and numerous unidentified. Lost my last shrimp at 10:45 AM and back home before 11. Short but good day on the water.

PS Took a picture of one mack and you could read the ruler but a little difficult if the fish will not stay still!

Your Fishing Report Hooked up with Bob L at his house out of sea pines ( Hudson) early sunday morning. we stopped at the end of his channel , and on the first cast Jean hooked up with a cobia. She had it on for about 15-20 seconds and it got off the hook. Bob saw it and said it was at least a keeper size.

then we went out abaout a mile or so and drifted most of the day. Bob & I didn’t get much casting. We were drifting pins and sand perch behind the boat all day, and we caught was about 10 small sharks, no cobia hits at all.

Jean caught 2 nice Spanish on a her favorite gold spoon.

One time Jean thought she had a cobia on, but it wasn’t, sure fought like one, but as you can see in the video it ended up being a 27″ lady fish, what a fight it gave her.

Want to thank bob for a great time out on the water.

Your Fishing Report After having the boat out of the water for annual maintenance I needed to get her wet and back on the lift. I left Nick’s Park around 9 am. I tried various spots along the way from the Cottee to Anclote Island. Only real luck was a single Spanish Mackerel that was 22 in. Caught with a weighted silver spoon. Nothing much else to report. Was able to break a rod putting the boat away so always a joy!
