Mike S and I decided to do a morning of fishing so we meet at Belle Harbour Marina to head out. The skies were dark and there was some thunder so we decided to grab a cup of coffee to see if things cleared off. While at coffee we ran into Mike T who was also headed out fishing. We decided to chance it and fortunately missed most the rain. We fished the end of the Anclote both sides using shrimp and Gulp white minnow. The bite was slow with mostly under size trout and catfish. We were in by 1pm and had enjoyed a fun morning of fishing.

Decided to try the ponds again this evening after today’s rain. It was hot and buggy but the bite was on. Couldn’t replace my usual Yum worms at walmart so I decided to try the only worms available ( Yum 5″ dinger WTMLN PEARL LAM ) glad I did. Caught 9 bass ( a personnel best ) in less than 2 hours, no bigs ones , a few in the the 2-3 lb range ( it would look bigger , but I fish solo and couldn’t hold it out Ha Ha Rick ) The fish shown in my last report was a tournment entry, but I made a mistake when making the report ( my Bad )

The hot weather seems to have slowed the bass bite a little. Sunday evening after a few showers and a light wind , it cooled a bit. So I went to a couple of local ponds to try my luck. Caught a bass on the first cast and ended up landing 5 bass in about an hour and a half. Green Senko worms with either a texas rig or wacky rig seemed to work well.

Team Uffa and Mike Brumley, got invited to fish with Mike K on a off shore trip. We met at Nick’s park at  normal time, zero A. M. We already had our pin fish so we went directly  to Mike’s fishing grounds.

AGAIN the Sea gods were  extremely nice to us both out and back, but whipped our asses with the extreme high heat and no breeze all day.

We were fishing  in about 100-110′ of water all day, and using everything for bait, frozen threads, live pins and  squid. The bite was very slow. So Mike as usually kept moving around to find the fish, the problem was he found them at every stop, but they would not bite. (Mike thinks it was a tide thing again)

It had to be at least 4 hrs before we had our first real fish in the fish box. But by the time we quit, the box was pretty well filled.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE TRIP !!!!

First of all, the 2 Mike’s and Jean all had monster  fish on but could not get them off the bottom and  all of them broke their lines.

The bragging rights went to  both Jean and Mike B for the biggest catches of the day. Mike B caught the 2 biggest fish, a red grouper and ARS, but Jean had the best day. She limited out on ARS, red grouper and picked up a few Mahi’s, a cobia and had a 50″+ Barracuda on for about 10 seconds, and you should have heard her reel screaming, before her line broke. Congrats to you both.

I ( Rick) got the biggest fish of the day, A hugh cobia, It hit a 5″ live pin fish on the bottom in 105′ of water, and within  10 seconds of  getting him on my line it was on the top of the water jumping, and as usual Mike K gaffed  the cobia beautifully  in 1 try.

Jim McCarthy please note our arms aren’t stretched out a mile on the  pics.

Team Uffa and Mike B. want to thank Mike for a safe and great day of CATCHING.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Weather was a little shakey so I didn’t have time to
fish a lot of my usual spots. Rain stopped and was able to fish for about an hour. Bite was slow but did
hook into a couple of nice fish. Used my usual rubber worms and was able to land 3 fish. Great way to spend a hour on a summer evening.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Bob Sherley, my-self (Rick) and Mike hooked up for a day off shore fishing.

Again the sea gods were extremely good to us. It was a rough for the first 8-9 miles then the seas flattened out all day and all the way back home.

We went directly out to one of Mike’s good red snapper hole and  the fish were there, but not hungry, The screen  was loaded with fish. So we moved a few other spots and still did not get much, so we decided to fish for some red grouper, Mike moved in  about 10 miles and  the catch was on. We caught a little bit of everything,  Red grouper, beautiful mangrove snapper (15-20″) ,yellow tail snapper, sea bass, nice lane snapper, even  got 4 red snapper. We didn’t get monsters, but made up in quantity.

IT HAPPENED AGAIN!!!!!! We caught another tagged American red snapper. This makes 3 on Mike’s boat. Team Uffa and Mike Kaplan all got one, this year. I’m going to bring the fish tag in for every one to see, just in case no one ever saw one.

Bob & I want to thank Mike again for a great day one the water.

Sorry no video this time, Just nothing to video.
