Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below On a picture-perfect spring day Freddie Penrow, Bonnie Allen invited Joe Stand and Terry Reelitz for a day of checking out NBF waters. Two quick stops loaded up the bait tank with live critters and then off to +100’ of old stomping grounds.Currents were running pretty good, needing 12-16 oz to stay down on the drift, action was fast and furious out of the gate – just a lot of shorts. All the usual baits were working, squid, sardines, threads and assorted pieces/chunks of live bait. Bonnie Allen loaded up on the Lanes and other little snappers quickly – a plus was the Lanes were good sized! The crew got antsy after an hour or so of shaking off shorts – the decision was unanimous when it was suggested it was time to go find NBF (Never Been Fished) water.Captain roared past the 20 Fathom Line (note – remember this is closed to RG’s in February & March) and settled in to drift Never Been Fished (NBF) waters.Well,  action was fast and furious from first drop to the last – Grunt pieces and squirrels were the real deal. We limited out on RG’s in less than 45 minutes. Bonnie netted a 25” & 23”, Freddie hung two 23”s, Reelitz contributed a 24”. Joe Stand had a frustrating string of losing at least two or three hits that came unbuttoned about halfway up – they were big ‘uns that had to be closing in on +30”s.Through that hour of total chaos – all in there were about 8-10 big RG bites that didn’t make it to the net – but ‘Momma said there would be days like that’Interestingly, the ARS action was fierce as well – quite a few all in the 18”- upper 20’s. Reminder, when ARS starts in June – Return ‘Em Right – “venting and descending” – of course that goes for RG’s as well. After our RG limit was reached, we put away the deep rods and turned our attention to Mahi – finished up the day with one nice Mahi and started on strategy for the next trip to NBF and how to attack the Mahi. All ARS and all shorts were returned to the water.Bonnie Allen was ‘Sweet Cheeks Award’ Winner with her 25” RG – Congratulations, awesome job!Quiet ride back to the dock – without a doubt ‘A good time was had by All’ – thank you Freddie & Bonnie!!!!!
