Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Mike Spanhel saw a break in the weather coming and took the opportunity to get his boat out for a long overdue run.  He invited Dave Diehl, John Grieder, and me to do a day of fishing for Sheepshead. Our first drop was near or on Pasco 1 and it was not fruitful at all.  There were several other boats in the area but no one appeared to be catching fish.  The seas were dead calm with very little wind which was great considering it was still pretty cool.  Mike decided to check out a spot 5 or 6 miles south and it proved to be a good one.  Dave and Mike both had rot rods landing sheepshead, Gag Grouper and Hogfish.  John caught his first Hogfish and was estatic.  It was truely a varied chatch including red grouper, puffers, lots of grunts, hogfish, gag grouper, sheepshead and tile fish.  As I recall we boated 5 keeper hogfish and had to throw back 7 gags as well as a good number of short sheepshead and hogfish. It ended up being a great day of catching by all.  It is always great fishing and catching with friends.
If this report includes a tournament entry please state the species and length of the fish caught in this box. Mike and Dave I believe are in the Pay Tournament but they will contact Joe Stand to provide the lengths of the Sheepshead they caught.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below It was a great day for fishing, but not catching. John and I talked at the club meeting and decided that Thursday of this week was the only day that looked remotely like a fishing day.  John had not run his boat for quite a while so we met mid morning and headed out with a few dozen shrimp and a box full of plastic.  In truth we were in search of anything that would bite, also in truth we didn’t hit the jackpot.  We fished 6 or 7 spots ranging from 3ft of water to 11ft of water up and down the inshore side of Anclote Key with not much result. Pictured in the report is John with the only Sand Trout of the day of any size.  It was still a fun, cold day on the water.  Thanks John for keeping the trip try, it would have been a nasty day to get wet.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below John Grieder and I decided to get a day of inshore fishing in before the end of the year.  We left mid-morning and headed up the Anclote River.  Our first stop was at the Alt 19 bride where we anchored up stream of the bridge, set our chum bag out and tangled shrimps near the base of the bride to entice mangrove snappers and sheepsheads to bite.  Several other boats pulled up and joined us in the attempts.  After about 30 minutes with no one in the area boarding any fish we left to head up stream to chase trout and redfish.  We stopped at the first big bend in the river and be both hooked up with ladyfish.  John boated his, and mine got off.  After several more drifts I finally boated one.  In the process of fishing we ended up in some 8″ to 10″ deep water and I planed my motor and backed off into deeper water.  Unfortunately I sucked up a lot of sand an clogged the port that allow the motor to pee.  We made the most of it fishing the area back to the marina and past the marina toward the gulf. All together we had a good day of fun having hooked up 6 or 7 times but the temperature was dropping so we headed in.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below The weather forecast was so-so, but my friend Alex and I decided to brave it anyway. Our first stop was about 25 miles out at 45-47 feet, and it turned out to be our last because swells were to 2-3 feet instead of “one or less” promised by NWS, and we chose to stay there. We targeted Hogs and they came to us.  First, a couple of shorts, then four keepers up to 16 inches. As a “bycatch” we got 27” Gag and 24” Red Grouper which were photographed and safely released, also some nice size Mangoes and uncounted short groupers and grunts.By 11am we decided we’ve had enough beating and headed back.  Ironically, 5 miles east we found much friendlier seas, but we passed.  Nevertheless, the day was a success despite the unfriendly weather and we are looking forward for more.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Captain Bob Sauban invited yours truly for a trip to see if Macks are still hanging around after the recent cold front.YUP!!!!!Headed out North of Anclote Key, a little cool and seas were choppy.Non the less, we set out chum blocks, occasionally tossed some frozen shrimp out as teasers…. started out with poppin’ corks and shrimp on 3′ leaders with wire trace to avoid bite-offs…Action was a little slower, but the Mack’s still came through in packs. All in, we caught +30 Macks the majority being in 24″-27″ range.Burned through about 8 dozen shrimp, so a good deal out there is at Bait Depot for shrimo.Bob tangled with a big-ass shark that took him around the ‘toon at least once before breaking off when it got wrapped around a crab trap float…Awesome day out there, a good time was had by all…Thank you, Captain Bob for the Mack Attacks,!
