State the length and species in the box below Left Skeleton Key Marina at 7:45, to target Mango’s and Hogfish.  Rick showed up with 500 shrimp, purchased from Coopers for $45.00  That comes to about $1.00 a dozen, great value if you are going to target hogfish.  Seas were pretty smooth running to 59′.  First drop, Rick caught a keeper hogfish and I hung a 23′ red grouper.  Not a bad start but Red Groper is closed so it was released.  Then the Mangroves started to come over the gunnel as well as a lot of short hogfish, short red grouper and an occasional short gag grouper.  Just as Rick said to reel them in for the run home, I hooked the last fish, a 17″ hogfish. We ran home finishing with 11 mangos, 4 hogfish and a bunch of grunts.  About 1/2 way in the port engine quit,  After examining and contemplating the problem, we decided the fuel pump had quit as the engine ran fine as long as someone was pumping the ball.  We could run about 20 mph doing this and your hand gets real tired continuously pumping the ball but we made it in without the assistance of Tow Boat US

State the length and species in the box below Beautiful day on the water in Kevin’s boat.  We went 20+ miles NW of Gulf Harbors, fishing 40-60′ for gags, using frozen threadfins, pinfish, and other bait.  Water temp was 84-85, seas were 1″ or less.

Hit multiple spots, with one being the best.  Caught about a dozen gags (three keepers to 29.25″), 2 dozen red grouper some of which were  over 20″, and a nice mangrove snapper for Mike.

Building storms chased us home about 1pm.

Despite the red grouper closure, it seems  that the red grouper off Pasco in shallower water are better than they have been in years.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Bill Herr and I headed out for a morning of inshore fishing from Tarpon Springs.  We didn’t spend a lot of time traveling to a favorite fishing spot. Instead we stated near the channel of the Anclote River.  The first spot didn’t product in 3′ of water so we moved to 10′ of water near marker 7.  We had a few bites and some sand perch so we moved in toward shore to 5′ of water.  We hit a spot with lots of fish and spend the next few hours catching and releasing trout and mackerel. We didn’t catch anything huge but we stayed busy reeling in fish most the time.  We were using both plastic and frozen shrimp.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Mike Spanhel and I opted for an easy ‘A Day of Fishing’ experience – we headed  to Tarpon Springs and jumped aboard the Two Georges for a relaxing day of bs’ing and fishing….

Interesting that the Red Tide has forced the Two Georges to head out to deeper water – this has two implications, both of which are very positive.

The first being more time to enjoy a cup of coffee and an incredibly delicious breakfast sandwich PLUS more shots at Grouper.

The run out to our first drop was about an hour and a half, we still had time for about 6 drops before having to head back in.

The bite was steady through out the day until the last drop which brought an onslaught of Grouper. There was probably 12-15 healthy Grouper caught on the last drop, it was wild – many just an  ½” short.

The grunt bite was steady all day with better than average size for most, several nice Mangrove Snapper were bagged on the trip along with numerous short Red Grouper.

A note for future trips, the bulk of Grouper were caught in the back half of the boat and with most of those coming on sardines and a few on live pinfish. You just need to get there REALLY early to get those spots.

For the day, Mike and I caught and kept (me actually, Mary and I like fish tacos) about 40 Grunts, and one 16” Mangrove. We caught and released numerous short Gags and Red’s.

The Boat in total had about 12-15 BIG Groupers caught, the wining Grouper in the Tournament was close to 30 inches with 3 or 4 not very far behind.

Interesting, there were only 20 customers on board for the day trip, traffic is a little slow right now, that will pu after Thanksgiving, especially on the weekends.

All-in-all ‘A good time was had by all’, it was nice to have someone else clean the fish , $10 for 40 cleaned Grunts is a no-brainer – stay tuned for an planned ‘A Day of Fishing’ in November

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Invited out by Captain Bob for a day of chasing Trout. Start of a perfect day, slight East wind with a brisk incoming tide.

Headed out the Anclote River about 9 AM, first stop was Channel Marker Green 5 on the North side of channel, wind and current provided a nice drift starting in about 3’ working out to +5’ – keeping in the grass was key. throwing Gulp, live shrimp, and pinfish we caught plenty of frisky trout – all in 12”-14” range.

Moved on to Green 7 out if front of Power Plant, started in shallow grass and drifted out to hard bottom. Again, plenty of short Trout – Natural color Gulp shrimp on a Depth Grip Jig head was working for me (see pic, a great hint from Capt. Dencil), Bob was throwing Gulp curly tail until pins would bite of tail – pink was the hot color. The Gulp outperformed the live shrimp for the day.

Ran out to Pasco Red 4 and finished the day inside of Anclote Key – tide went slack, and wind shifted and the bite tailed off so we headed in for the day.

Bob ended up with enough for a fish fry and we enjoyed a cold brew when we got back in…. a great time today ….

A good time was had by all!
