Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Capt Bob headed northwest at 6am with a steady wind and threats of numerous offshore showers.  We did not see any other brave souls in our path during the ride out.  Seas were rolling 2-3’s but increased as we approached the 65 foot depths.  Tried several times to anchor over one of Capt Bob’s hot spots but that proved more difficult that normal as the waves rocked and rolled us around.  In short order the bite was on.  Several short grouper (Gag and Red) were boated and released and then the cooler started filling up with keepers.  Once the feeding ended, we relocated a short distance away however we had to buckle down as a storm was quickly approaching.  The squall was a good 30 knots which pulled the boat anchor a good distance.  In no time, the skies cleared and the boat was back on the spot with tight lines all over the boat.  Lori fondly named many large fish as they broke her line half way to the boat (names I cannot repeat here).  Overall, we kept 12 grouper (8 gag & 4 red), 1 mangrove snapper and a few grunts.  The only bait used were threadfins.  One of the best days in a long-time catching lots of grouper.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Spent another week kayak fishing in Boyton Beach with Pushin Water Kayak Fishing.  It is an all inclusive week with room and board for 5 nights and 4 days of fishing.  We would leave the beach at 6am and get live bait half way out to 100 to 150 ft of water.  We would be fishing by 645 to 7 am each morning and the fishing was best from 7 to 9am.  We would often get first fish within 5 to 10 minutes of putting lines out.  Sometimes 3 or 4 of the 5 of us hooked up at same time.  On Monday I caught a sailfish, a bonito and a kingfish.  On Tuesday I only caught kingfish, and one Wed I caught 2 sails and on Thursday I caught one.  The last sail was the largest and wrestling it on to the kayak while handling the wire leader the hooks pulled.  But I count it since we had the wire leader in hand and we catch and release them anyway.  For the week the group got 7 sailfish, 2 monster wahoo, one fat tuna, 3 mahi mahi and so many kingfish that we lost count.  From the house we caught a couple jacks, a snook and a tarpon along with several sharks.  What a great time.  2 summers in a row and I plan to do it again next summer too.

State the length and species in the box below Left Bob Bernsteins house on south channel GH and headed out about 18 miles with his friend Bob, Tom Saska, and myself.  The weather was iffy but no rain and just a little choppy.  We were in search of gags and hogfish.  Tried shrimp and I got a hogfish right away, it was legal and the last one caught all day.  Tons of small, medium and huge grunts.  Lots of short red and gag grouper.  2 sharks were caught.  One Tom S and Bob B both had a hook in it, so after Tom fought it awhile he cut loose and Bob got to fight it for awhile.  Weird to see catfish 18 miles offshore.  Don’t know if we were over bad bottom or if red tide is chasing them out.  We all had a good time and each of us got hooked in to either sharks or goliaths that fought us hard and broke us off.  Early day in around 1:30 pm so home by 3pm.  Thanks to Bob Bernstein for a nice and safe day on the water.

We caught 22 trout and a few small mangrove snappers. Bob hooked into a tarpon and watching it stand up on the water was beautiful. Saw two massive nurse sharks and dolphins feeding everywhere. Ended up with 3 fat trout on pins before water went slack.

Did have a couple heart stopping moments with two hook ups that ended up getting broke off by frayed leaders.

The first hit was so hard and fast that the braid cut into my finger and I damn neared bled out (blood thinners)

I will return with heavier leaders and a supply of band aids.

A good time was had be all –  expect for the Trout that ended up in the cast iron skillet and blackened seasoning last night!
