Departed the dock shortly after 8am.  The weather report called for calm water, low winds, high temperature and humidity.  Went straight out to Pasco 4 and found no life below the water line.  Decided to head out WNW another 19 miles to deeper water.  Once we arrived there was nothing visible on the hard bottom.  Flat bottom with no fish marks or rock piles.  We decided to just drop down and drift anyway.  There was an immediate flurry of action with over 15 groupers (reds, gags and one rock hind).  All were shorts but we had a great time pulling them in.  My highlight was hooking into an ARS that run off at least 50 yards of 65# braid off my reel.  Great day fishing with Dave Diehl and Robbie Robinson.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report fill out the box below also. Saturday was such a great day, we decided to fight the weekend crowd at Nick’s Park and go Red Grouper fishing. the water was super calm for the 2 hour run out to 100 feet of water. The first spot we stopped at had numerous schools of Amberjack. but they all had lockjaw. I guess they knew it was open season. We also caught and released several nice ARS. By the end of the day. we had caught 3 keeper Red Grouper, 3 Mangrove Snapper and misc. Lane and Vermillion Snapper. At 2 we headed back to the dock. Another great day fishing with friends.

A Fun Day FishingGot a last-minute call from Mike Spanhel to have a relaxing ‘Fun Day fishing’ and join him on the Two Georges.I jumped aboard with the intention to re-plenish my Grunt filet inventory for our ‘Friday Night’ date night with my spouse. The planned menu was to consist of wine, flowers, and ‘fresh’ fish tacos. It was very comfortable seating on the boat with plenty of elbow room as the total fellow fishing mates only numbered about 25. The morning started off with a bang as the ‘breakfast sandwich’ was a killer treat as we motored out to the Gulf.I got a little nervous at our first drop, fishing started out very slow. The seas were flat calm, and it just did not seem like the water was moving even though the tide chart showed an aggressive tide. The second and third drops were not much better as the bite was really slow (even with shrimp) and those grunts caught were NOT taco sized. To this point, the only other highlight of the day after the ‘breakfast sandwich’ was the ‘cheeseburger’ we had for lunch! After about noon, although the water movement only improved slightly, the bite for Grunts did pick up a little but it was still tough sledding. I started sweating and figured I was gonna have to stop at Rusty Bellies Fish Market when we got back to the dock and throw those filets in the cooler.Low and behold about 1:00 PM, the ‘Hogfish Whisperer’ (Mike Spanhel) came to life and helped save my date night. Mike started nailing Hogfish, all in about 5 total with 2 measuring as keepers. The Grunt bite also picked up and the size started getting above 1 taco to almost 2 taco size.Mike created quite a buzz on the boat with his Hogfish results and helped save what turned out to be a pretty average day.The cool thing was we both got to walk-off the boat with-out cleaning any fish or swabbing the deck – that was worth it and ‘a good time was had by all’

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report fill out the box below also. Our son James and family came to town for a few days from Las Vegas and I wanted to be sure he had some great fishing while he was here so I booked a trip with the Rajun Cajun.  We headed out of Bayport at 7:30am on calm seas but as the day went on the winds were 14 to 15 mph.  The Cajun lived up to his reputation and immediately took us to a Snook honey hole which proved to be one honey hole after another  We ended catching and boating 12 snook and 12 keeper size redfish.  We lost a lot of fish to cutoffs/breakoffs but we stayed busy reeling until around 1 pm when the wind really picked up.  The wind wrecked the bite so we headed in.  Many thanks to Capt. Dencil for a day James and I will remember for years to come.

After waiting weeks for a good day to get offshore, we headed out Thursday in search of Red Grouper. Seas were less than 1 foot, making the 50 mile super comfortable. We spent the day drifting but we didn’t cover much area because of the lack of wind. The catch included a mix of Red Grouper, Mangrove, Lane and Vermillion Snapper, Lesser Amberjack and assorted other reef fish. Needless to say, the ride out and back was great.

We departed the Anclote boat ramp at 8am.  The weather could not have been any better – warm, sunny, light breeze and calm water.  Could not have asked for a better day of fishing.  We landed dozens of keeper-sized trout, a few snook (including my 33-inch fighter and a few larger ones that got away) and one nice redfish to complete Bob’s inshore slam.  Back at the dock by noon with lots of fishing stories and great memories.

We had a calm day so we went 50 to fish red grouper the ride was flat and big pods of bait all the way out with flying fish mixed in the first drift produced a lot of throwbacks and numerous ars but the keeper grouper were slow coming I think it was the tide and wind was minimal so we weren’t covering much area but we managed to get 5 red grouper and 9 mangrove snapper along with two lanes we called it quits and headed home at 1:30 fun day fishing with friends.
