Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Mike Spanhel and I opted for an easy ‘A Day of Fishing’ experience – we headed  to Tarpon Springs and jumped aboard the Two Georges for a relaxing day of bs’ing and fishing….

Interesting that the Red Tide has forced the Two Georges to head out to deeper water – this has two implications, both of which are very positive.

The first being more time to enjoy a cup of coffee and an incredibly delicious breakfast sandwich PLUS more shots at Grouper.

The run out to our first drop was about an hour and a half, we still had time for about 6 drops before having to head back in.

The bite was steady through out the day until the last drop which brought an onslaught of Grouper. There was probably 12-15 healthy Grouper caught on the last drop, it was wild – many just an  ½” short.

The grunt bite was steady all day with better than average size for most, several nice Mangrove Snapper were bagged on the trip along with numerous short Red Grouper.

A note for future trips, the bulk of Grouper were caught in the back half of the boat and with most of those coming on sardines and a few on live pinfish. You just need to get there REALLY early to get those spots.

For the day, Mike and I caught and kept (me actually, Mary and I like fish tacos) about 40 Grunts, and one 16” Mangrove. We caught and released numerous short Gags and Red’s.

The Boat in total had about 12-15 BIG Groupers caught, the wining Grouper in the Tournament was close to 30 inches with 3 or 4 not very far behind.

Interesting, there were only 20 customers on board for the day trip, traffic is a little slow right now, that will pu after Thanksgiving, especially on the weekends.

All-in-all ‘A good time was had by all’, it was nice to have someone else clean the fish , $10 for 40 cleaned Grunts is a no-brainer – stay tuned for an planned ‘A Day of Fishing’ in November

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Invited out by Captain Bob for a day of chasing Trout. Start of a perfect day, slight East wind with a brisk incoming tide.

Headed out the Anclote River about 9 AM, first stop was Channel Marker Green 5 on the North side of channel, wind and current provided a nice drift starting in about 3’ working out to +5’ – keeping in the grass was key. throwing Gulp, live shrimp, and pinfish we caught plenty of frisky trout – all in 12”-14” range.

Moved on to Green 7 out if front of Power Plant, started in shallow grass and drifted out to hard bottom. Again, plenty of short Trout – Natural color Gulp shrimp on a Depth Grip Jig head was working for me (see pic, a great hint from Capt. Dencil), Bob was throwing Gulp curly tail until pins would bite of tail – pink was the hot color. The Gulp outperformed the live shrimp for the day.

Ran out to Pasco Red 4 and finished the day inside of Anclote Key – tide went slack, and wind shifted and the bite tailed off so we headed in for the day.

Bob ended up with enough for a fish fry and we enjoyed a cold brew when we got back in…. a great time today ….

A good time was had by all!

State the length and species in the box below First any day I get out and fish and nobody gets hurt and we don’t break anything expensive it’s a good day.  As for the fishing part we left ANCLOTE HARBOR MARINA about 11 on the falling tide. We had not been OFFSHORE for a while so we headed out on light east winds. Our first drop was in 22. Nothing so we moved to another spot in 28. Still nothing. Thats unusual because we usually catch GRUNTS on both spots without much difficulty with squid. So, we decided to move inside for the last part of the trip since we had some success recently in close. We were at the end of the falling tide. We only picked up about 7 TROUT on GULP, all small (10 to 13) on slip corks in about an hour of drifting the flats of the ANCOTE ANCHORAGE before we called it a day. Nothing worth taking a picture of. Still a great day on the water.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Since this was Denis’ second day back from Boston it was only fitting that caught the first & second fish of the day while trolling out the Cottee after putting in at 7:15 AM. Water temp was at 79 with an incoming tide. We then drifted out the south side of the river catching more jacks and other smalls. Drifted past an oyster bed with grass and got a nice trout. Denis got his trout off another bed 1/4 mile south of the river. Drifted out past old stilt house pilings only to stumble upon a boat DIW (dead in the water) with 3 fellow club members aboard. They had already called SeaTow or else would have tried to tow them in. Trolled back to a small oyster bar in the river while Denis caught a few large lizard fish. The oyster produced a 16” flounder. Another good morning on the water.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Mary and I launched about 10:00 AM on a beautiful Florida sunshine day – winds were mild and no showers in the forecast…. We both decided we would like fish tacos before heading to Key Largo for the weekend.

The excellent news was the weather was great and winds mild, water temp 81 degrees with blue-bird skies. The bad news was it was a lackluster tide/current day and we were fishing low tide water.

Non-the less we headed out to Green 5 with intentions of working Sand Bay for Trout. Green 5 was the ticket, just inside in about 5 feet of water, Trout were crazy, Macks were running wild and Sharks got in the action as well.

Live shrimp, gulp shrimp below a cork was the ticket as the Trout came through in waves. The Blacktips were feasting on pinfish and gulp on a jig head.

We kept 3 keeper Trout for tacos and one Mack for a hot and saucy side dish.

‘A good time was had by all’ as mission was accomplished

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Since my last trip was pretty good I decided to try the same pattern again. We left ANCLOTE HARBOR MARINA at 930 AM. My plan was to go North in the ANCLOTE ANCHORAGE towards BAILEYS  BLUFF and drift back south towards the river along the east shore staying in depths of about 3 to 5 feet. We used live shrimp and GULP under slip bobbers from 3 to 4 down. We made this drift about 5 times stopping before the power house and then repeated it. Today low tide was about 1130 so we caught the end of the cycle. I think that was a problem. We picked up only about 8 trout, only 2 of which were 15 or more. The rest were small, like 10. The GULP was just as good as the live shrimp. Those small trout would attack the shrimp and rip them off without getting hooked whereas the GULP could not be ripped off easily leaving it for a larger fish. Overall, it was a fun day
