Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Had some friends in town and headed out fishing in an incoming tide with light winds. Headed towards flats from North channel to south channel. While driving out noticed a lot of bait fish by the channel markers and drifted from their. Caught a 31” cobia on pinfish. Then went to sandbar for lunch and a swim. Headed back to the flats around 4:00 and bite turned on. Caught a ton of trout and my wife caught a 35” cobia on a live shrimp on the smallest pole on the boat! The weather was incredible. Water 83. Great day and great memories.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below No rain, winds were calm – Mary and I grabbed a couple dozen shrimp and a dozen pinfish, and headed out for a couple hours.

Water temps 82-83 degrees, active inshore tide – hit Green 7 out in front of PP and Green 5 down by Sand Bay. Drifted live shrimp and pins in 3-6’ of water that had grass.

Loaded up on a bunch of Trout and two Blacktips that created mayhem running us around the boat.
We let the slot Trout  go to get bigger and fight another day!

A ‘good time was had by all’

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below I was invited to fish with Barbara Thompson with Capt Michael Dawson running the boat. Tide was almost dead low. Michael had both his livewells blacked out with bait. Barbara is an excellent grouper and snapper fisher-woman, but this was her first inshore trip and she wanted a snook!  The first spot we fished was south of the lighthouse, so we could not keep the 19″ trout caught by Barbara or the redfish I caught, and we released several jacks.  We then ran a good distance North and stopped on some rock hard bottom where Barbara put two mackerel in the boat and I caught a short gag grouper.  Boy do shallow water grouper pull hard.  We started working our way back south and finally Barbara hooked and landed a 27 3/4″ snook which had to be released due to being 1/4″ short. But this completed her inshore slam.  We fished several more spots, boating a nice mangrove and a couple of legal redfish before pulling the plug at 2:30.  Great day on the water.  Thanks Barbara and Capt Michael

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below After seeing recent inshore reports I could see a definite pattern had emerged so I decided to get in on the fun. We left ANCLOTE HARBOR MARINA at 9 AM. My plan was to go North in the ANCLOTE ANCHORAGE towards GULF HARBORS and drift back south towards the river along the east shore staying in depths of about 3 to 6 feet. The wind was blowing about 12 making the water bumpier than  I expected so I headed toward the east bank around BAILEYS BLUFF to start my drift. We used live shrimp under slip bobbers from 3 to 5 down. We made this drift about 5 times stopping dead west of the power house and then repeated it. We picked up about 25 trout, only 3 of which were 15″ most were 12 to 13. We did catch 1 shark about 36″ We used 3 dozen whole shrimp and then switched to GULP in white for the last drift after all the shrimp were gone. The GULP was just as good as the live shrimp. Wind laid down as the day progressed. Overall, it was a fun day even though most of the trout were small, just glad to see so many. All were released.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Captain Mike Spanhel invited Frank Bellizio, Robbie Robinson and Terry Reelitz for a day of chasin’ some off-shore targets.

Headed out about 7:30 AM with the remnants of a Full moon still shinning overhead, a cooler full of frozen threadfins, squid and shrimp. The bait-well was holding 3 dozen pins to be used for hunting the biguns.

Winds were modest but the Gulf had some 2’ rollers that slowed the trip out to the first stop at about +50’. Current was running pretty well, and water clarity was much improved at 82 degrees. The bite was surprisingly slower than expected based on the positive conditions. Grunts were decent size but coming up grudgingly, Hogfish were taking shrimp but a little short as were some Gags and Red Grouper.

A couple fun catches – Robbie hooked into a 3’ Shark that gave him quite a tussle on light tackle, and I hooked into a hefty Bonita that took some drag and provided some laughs

We had another 4 or 5 stops working out to +60’ with much the same results – bite was slow but steady. Several Hogfish with 2 being legal, Frank B. got the biggest at 16”. Gag bite was steady out deeper taking both shrimp and pins- Mike S. had biggest at 23”s (picture was forgotten-my bad) and a couple estimated bigger that didn’t make it to the surface.

Some dark clouds loomed between us and home port, so we took our cooler of Grunts and a couple Hogs and headed back in…

A ‘good time was had by all’ and there are tasty Hog fillets a cookin’ and fish tacos on future menus.

Thank-you  Capt Mike

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Mary and I found a nice window of fishing opportunity – no rain and mild winds, decided to head out for a couple hours on a Sunday because we had a hankerin’ for some Blackened Fish Tacos.

Launched about 10:00 am, oppss, forgot to look at tides – we were at the end of a incoming tide with a outgoing tide taking it’s time to get some water moving.

Loaded up with 3 dozen select shrimp and a dozen pinfish – started at Green 7 out in front of the PP working water with grass in 3’ drifting out to about 9’. A great sign was a lot of active hungry Trout – best action was shrimp below a cork.

Continued working North – lots of Trout, most of ‘em just short of 15” all in that 3’ out to the grass line.

Shrimp was the ticket for Trout – we did have numerous bite offs on pinfish – don’t think they were sharks – thinking that Macks are starting to hang around – water was a little cooler @ 82 degrees.

Headed in about 2:00 pm, Mary caught all he keepers and Miss Vicki’s was calling with a cold brew and some Fish Spread – kept 3 unlucky Trout for tacos…

‘A great time was had by all’  and the tacos were awesome for dinner

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below My son, Corey, his girlfriend Misty and their 4 year old daughter Lily arrived at our home late Friday to go offshore looking for hogfish on Saturday.  True to our team name, “the Crack of Noon Fishing Team, we got to Nicks Park at 9:30.  While Corey and I launched the boat, Misty and Lily went to the bait store to purchase shrimp..  While there, the young sales lady gave Lily a hermit crab which turned out to be the hit of the weekend.  In rout to our spot, we ran into a flock of birds and deciided to see what they were on.  Turned out the were swarming over a LARGE school of ladyfish.  We caught a bunch of them keeping a couple for bait and then proceeded to continue our run offshore.  I noticed a spot I had not fished in about 12 years which was on my GPS track to the spot I wanted to fish so decided to look around there.  Marked a good sow and dropped a rod with a shrimp and I caught a small red grouper.  We anchored on this spot and caught a large variety of fish, nothing to write home about but both Misty and Lily caught black seabass, squirrel fish, blue runners, and short red grouper.  The girls wanted to stop at the sandbar on the trip home so we left offshore about 1:30, got to the sandbar which was completely under water , so we called it a day.
One nice thing about the day. I was expecting a madhouse at Nicks Park Ramp because of teh holiday weekend, but we got there after all the traffic, and though the lot was full, we did not have to wait at all to launch. And we were early enough returning we did not have to wait to recover and were on our way in minutes.  The hermit crab became a pet, that Misty, Lily and Pam went on a quest at WalMart to find a pen, stopped at Nicks Park to get a shovel full of sand and then stopped at the bait store to get another hermit crab so the first one would not get lonely
