State the length and species in the box below Took the inflatable out onto Gulf Harbors north channel on incoming tide. Using only new penny plastic was able to catch several nice spotted Sea Trout, the largest of which was 17 inches. Additionally landed a few lady fish, a couple jacks and one 26″ cobia that pulled me and boat around for ten minutes. Tide turned at noon and so did I….for the dock. My best 4 hours of the week.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below We did some inshore fishing and had to fight hard. The wind made it a bit more difficult. Fished in about 4-10 ft of water and used live shrimp as bait. We were to pull about 7 trout ranging from 14-17 inches. We also caught some lady fish, flat back puffer and a Spanish mackerel. A great day with great company.

State the length and species in the box below Mike T joined me on the Myrna Jane for a day of flats fishing.  We thought the silver trout might have left the area but we spent 3 hours non-stop catching of Silver trout with a few spotted trout mixed in.  We were in 11 ft of water and using mostly plastic but a few were caught on live shrimp.  Most of the Silver Trout were 13 to 16 inches, we caught at least 100 of them all in the same size group.  We ended up doing a little time on the flats and caught a 20 or so spotted trout in the 14 to 16″ range.  A great day of fishing in fine weather with a good friend.

State the length and species in the box below My neighbor, Jim M and myself took a trip offshore to see what we could scare up.  Made several stops at depths of 25, 35, 40 and 41 feet.  We caught lots of gag and red groupers, at least 20, some grunts and a ramora.  Had  a great day and even lost a few to the rocks.  Headed in just before three as the wind was picking up.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Late morning (10am) from the dock due to a flat tide. Fished the east side of the Anclote sandbar without much luck (water temp 67), went out to marker 4 and found some hard bottom (water temp increased to 69). Slow action but boated 2 spanish mackerel, 1 black seabass, and a large white grunt. All fish caught on live shrimp. Tried several artificial baits at the grass flats by the sandbar without luck.
Wind picked up and I was back at the dock by 2pm.
Great day on the water.

State the length and species in the box below “Made some mistakes on report submitted earlier.  Mislabled some pics, please consider to replace the old report with this one if allowed”  Left Nick’s Park at 6 am.  Captain Kaplan invited Rick U, Mark C and myself to go out for Red Grouper using the amazing Rhodan anchor system.  The ride out was moderate.  We were fishing 50 miles out by 830.  All drops were good at least in the beggining.  Mark C using a knocker rig with 6 oz weight, 7/O hook with half a threadfin herring had 2 keepers in the box before the rest of us had one.  Took us most of the day to get our limit on cut threadfin and squid wings/squid.  The fish were not interested in live bait or much into cut bait from grunts.  We all ended up throwing back 20 in potential keepers hoping to size up.  The tactic worked.  Of note Mike Kaplan got a 24.75 Red Grouper, Mark C got a 16 in Red Snapper and a 14 in Mangrove Snapper, and Rick U won the pool with an almost 27 in Red Grouper.  I tried jigging and did ok but not much luck unless I tipped with squid.  Had to go to the chicken rig and caught about 7 vermillion snapper and half a dozen lanes along with my 2 keeper grouper.  Great safe day and home by 5pm.  Thanks Mike!

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Went out for red grouper in 90-100″ water off Clearwater, crew was Mike B, Rick U, and Mark C.

We went out with frozen threadfin and squid as bait, which worked well.  The however, when a small octopus was caught the game changed.  We cut it up for bait and the action was non-stop.  We headed home shortly thereafter with limits of 22-27″ grouper along with misc. snapper.

I like to keep octopus to take home to eat.  That may have ended!
