State the length and species in the box below Due to a last-minute cancellation, I got a chance to go ARS fishing with CAPTAIN CARLOS on the BOTTOMS UP on Friday JUN 30. 6 fisherman left ANCLOTE RIVER at 730 and ran for 2 hours and 15 minutes to 135 feet. Ride out was bumpy but we had a following sea, so it was not too bad. We had 6 drops on the trip all within a few miles of each other once we reached the grounds. Every drop was red hot with a variety of ARS, RED GROUPER, and LANE SNAPPER with lost 1 lost YELLOW TAIL SNAPPER. Myself I caught 4 ARS, 7 RED GROUPER, and 10 LANE SNAPPER. Of the RED GROUPER caught on the trip only 3 made the 20-inch cut. We had a limit of ARS and lots of LANES and assorted other SNAPPER. The trip back took longer than going out due to building seas thru out the day. It was the roughest boat ride I was ever on, for 2.5 hours, but at the end of the day it was worth the great fishing. I had 1 RED GROUPER I think would have made the cut by on the way up I was sharked. When I got the head to the surface there was an 8-foot shark following it. If you want to go for ARS and don’t own a boat to get you out there check with CARLOS because there are always people that cancel out.
