Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Dave Taylor invited Terry Reelitz and myself to try to find some kingfish, and other various species.  We left Port Hudson Marina at about 7:30 in a complete fog, so bad one could not see the channel markers.  But we idled around at the mouth of the marina for about 15 minutes and decided to go for it.  We ran to 30′ where Dave & I had previously caught kings, but the difference was on that occasion we had or were able to catch some blue runners on site and today it wasn’t happening.  So we settled for grunts while trying for hogfish.  A couple hours of this, we went to another of Dave’s hot spots in 50′ where I managed a mango and two legal gags.  Terry managed 4 or 5 short gags and Dave had one short.  I also brought a short hogfish to the boat.  Terry and Dave were having a contest to see how many Toadfish they could boat.  When the bite slowed, we went to 52′ and marked a number of fish but nary a bite so we called it a day and left for home at 2:00, arriving back at 3:00 and had the fish and boat cleaned by 4:30.  Great day on the water, Thanks Dave

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below After last night’s meeting butch and I decided to try our luck  fishing today. We hit the water at 8am at the dock of the anclote with high hopes of getting something to bite our baits. The tide was going out so we headed to a spot we use to go too but haven’t fished  in a long time. Parked the boat and and two casts later a good size red fish on my line . Butch followed with a nice fat long trout . We haven’t seen them this year like that. Left the site and went up river a little bit but never got anything of size so we tried the edge of the river with some cut bait ang got a real  nice big cat. It was a great day for butch’s boat so off we went to our few spots on the flats. We listened to the guides last night  and went looking for some spots . Low and behold we found what they were talking about. The tide was turning and We started drifting in about 8ft of water going over water that changed depth  between 8ft to 4 ft back up to 7 ft back down to sometimes 3 ft . There really wasn’t a bite in the deep water but once it got shallow bang it was like look out . Nice lady fish, big fat trout . The water was a lot warmer in the shallow with the sun out and the fish decided to bite our gulp bait.It made our day a great day of fishing .

State the length and species in the box below When Frank informed me, they extended the RED SNAPPER season I got in touch with my favorite offshore Captain, CARLOS BASTOS, to see what his schedule was. He told me it was only available for Captains with federal licenses and he had not yet received his papers. I waited as long as I could but on Sunday, I decided to go to plan B so I booked a 10-hour trip with HUBBARDS MARINA. They run a 10-hour trip that runs from 60 to 100 feet. I figured this might get me in the zone now that the water is cooling. I fished Thursday. We left the Johns Pass at 7 AM and ran SW to 80 feet. The wind was blowing 15 out of the east. The waves were running 3 to 4 offshore. It was rough! We made about 6 drops. It was really difficult to keep the bait on the bottom because the rise and fall of the boat as it swung on the anchor, especially when the boat was in the trough. I think my bait was on the bottom only half the time and really affected the catch. I caught STRAWBERRY GROUPER, RED GROUPER, and SCAMP GROUPER; they were all too small to keep. I caught a few PORGYS, LANE SNAPPER and 1 MANGO which I kept. A few nice HOG FISH were caught. Not too many GRUNTS. NO RED SNAPPER caught. NO legal GAGS were caught. LANE SNAPPER, MANGOS, YELLOW TAILS, RED GROUPER AND SCAMPS were plentiful.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below Craig, Denis S, and myself made our way to put in at Ft. DeSoto park around 8 AM just after low tide. Air temp was around 60 degrees with 9 mph winds. We found that there is a greatly reduced fishery after the red tide this summer in the south Pinellas county waters. Using live bait, cut bait, and plastic, we landed a few catfish, one bonnet head shark, one mangrove snapper and couple of lady fish, in addition to several smalls. We observed a couple of guides who were also having putting customers on fish. After trying many locations we called it a day around 3PM. We also noted a drastic reduction I sea grass all over the flats. Another beautiful day on the water.

Your Fishing Report: If this is a tournament report do not state the fish’s length in this box. State the length and species in the box below We decided to get a trip in before the lousy weather forecasted for Thursday and Friday. We left ANCLOTE HARBOR at 10 AM. Tide was falling. When we got to the gulf, we headed North and stopped briefly at ICW GREEN 7 and tried a drift but nothing there. We continued North to ICW GREEN 5 and went east from there until we were in 5 ft and started our drift. The wind was very light but the current drifted us North East. We fished with PADDLE TAIL’s. Surprisingly we had a number of bite offs of the plastics all the way up to the hook by BLOW FISH. We picked up a number of small trout 15’s & 16’s. I moved back to the GREEN 5 and tried a drift in deeper water but all we picked up was 1 small JACK on a shrimp under a cork. I had 1 clean bite off of my line which was probably a MACK.  For our last drift I moved back to 5 ft where we had our best luck and picked up more trout. We called it quits at 230 and headed in. Nice day of fishing.
