State the length and species in the box below Denis Surctte and I headed out late in the morning for a trip up the Anclote River. The sky was overcast and not much wind in the river. Our target for the day was trout and ladyfish. The tides were right for making the trip way up the river to the old golf course.  We stopped at a favorite creek opening on the way up the river and caught a few ladyfish. I landed the largest ladyfish of the day on a freelined shrimp, 23″ to the fork.  We proceed up the river and stopped for a few cast here and there with no luck.  When we reached our pronounced goal a 20′ deep hole we fished it for 20 minutes with no bites.  The tide was going out now so we got past the really shallow portion of the river and stopped and fish again with no luck.  Finally we let the river pull us down the bank in an area west of Alt 19 and we started catching ladyfish again.  Denis landed an 18″ on this drift.  Out of the blue a dark cloud showed up over head and it started to rain so we headed in.  It was a fun day exploring some new waters.
